The Rockefeller Center’s Top of the Rock Observation Deck provides a breathtaking 360-degree view of New York City. Complete with three levels of indoor and outdoor viewing areas, with convenient access to breathtaking skyline views, Central Park and Midtown, as well as iconic landmarks and skyscrapers. Plus, the top level open-air makes your pictures much easier to take and more authentic — creating an atmosphere unlike anywhere else in town.
Top of the Rock’s main entrance is on 50th Street, between Fifth and Sixth Avenues. Look for the big red carpet on the south side of the street which marks the entrance. A second entrance is located at 30 Rockefeller Plaza level of the Concourse. All tourists have a Security Checkpoint. Be mindful of the things you want to carry with you. No weapons of any sort (including but not limited to: knives of any type, including pen knives, small pocket knives, knives of the Swiss army, switchblades, lighters, glass bottles and flammable materials). Food and beverages are not permitted, either.
Top of the Rock is working on a timed ticketing system. You will pick the time and date that fits best for you when you buy your ticket online or at the Box Office. Not sure when you want to go yet? Unplanned tickets are also available. Unplanned tickets must however be exchanged at the Box Office for timed tickets prior to entry. Immediate entry is not assured, and the time available can be limited.
At Top of the Rock, there are three tiers of observation decks to explore. The first deck contains the Pillar of Radiance and our gift shop. The second is completely outdoor, including the Breezeway. The third observation deck, situated on the open-air roof deck on the 70th floor, is completely outdoor and free of a glass frame, making it ideal for pictures.
Rock top and Rockefeller Center Tour are available for wheelchair users. All entrances are open and power-assisted doors are located between Fifth and Sixth Avenues, at the 50th Street main entrance.
Anyone is invited to take the walk of the Rockefeller Center. The guides are trained by guiding the tour along wheelchair accessible routes at an adequate pace to accommodate those in need.
Elevators are accessible on all Top of the Rock levels, from the street level up to the 70th floor open-air viewing platform.
All of Top of the Rock’s public bathrooms have assigned accessible wheelchair stalls.
Top of the Rock definitely has amazing views which can only be completely understood and experienced in person. When you view it from the top of the house, it’s a whole different world in the city! This view gives you a much better picture of how grand this town is. This also helps to get you a little focused, having the whole city spread out from the perspective of a bird’s eye.
