Throughout the 1990’s, the births of today’s Meatpacking District have historically been recognized as an period of cultural and residential regeneration, when iconic restaurants like Valbella and “it” clothing designers, including Stella McCartney and Diane Von Furstenberg paved the way for a host of top quality shops and restaurants to follow and continue defining the neighborhood.
The Meatpacking District would be an understatement to call an entertainment “hot spot.” Block by block, the area is one of the most diverse in the country with a large number of restaurants, luxury boutiques, swank hotel lounges and bars. It is a trendy place to live and play from crowded hotel bars and beer gardens to popular, nightly lounges.
The High Line, from Gansevoort to West 30th Street, provides, compared to the busily busy street scene, one of the quietest places to stay in the city. Once delayed railways have been replenished as a green road with a birdseye view of the streets below and public arts and skyline to the east. The central location and comfort of the neighborhood’s city center both trains and the New Jersey waterfront keeps things busy irrespective of time of day.
The central location and comfort of the neighborhood’s city center both trains and the New Jersey waterfront keeps things busy irrespective of time of day. In comparison to remote communities like the West Village or Hell’s Kitchen, well-known designers, famous restaurants, fashion models and others like to watch them reign over the sidewalks. The area is a big draw, making it incredibly difficult and competitively priced for co-operatives of the loft style and new high-rise buildings.
The Meatpacking district is a favorite among movie makers, visitors and city locals on big, walking streets and a hip, modern , industrial architecture. In addition to the fun activities and the trendy pace of life, this neighborhood is a place that people everywhere would love to call back home.
